You can search your Bible from cover to cover and you will not find the word Sunday. And it don't say anywhere in the Bible that Sunday is the day of rest, nor ever refers to Sunday as being the day of rest .

                Sunday: first day of the week. This English name, and German name (Sonntag) as well. is derived from Latin dies solis, "sun'sday" the name of a pagan Roman Holiday. Sunday is derived in Romance languages ( French Dimanche; Italian Domenica; Spanish Domingo; Roman Duminica). In the early days of Christianity Sunday began to replace the Sabbath, and to be observed to honour the resurrection of Christ. Sunday was instituted as a day of rest, consecrated especially to the service of God, by the Roman emperor Constantine 1. Since the 4th century.

                As you can see from Microsoft Encarta that Sunday is a pagan Roman Holiday. It was instituted by Constantine 1. It was not instituted by God . So people who follow Sunday as a day of worship , follow man's way's , not God way.

                Sun Worship: religious devotion paid to the sun either as a deity or as the symbol of a deity. Sun worship was practised by Iroquois, Plains, and Tsimshian peoples of North America and reached a high state of development among the Native Americans of Mexico and Peru. The sun was also a Hindu deity, regarded as maleficent by the Dravidians of southern India and as benevolent by the Munda of the central parts. The Babylonians were sun worshipers, and in ancient Persia worship of the sun was an integral part of the elaborate cult of Mithras. The ancient Egyptians worshiped the son god Ra.

                In ancient Greece the deities of the sun gods were Helios and Apoilo. The worship of Helios was widespread; temples were built in Corinth, Argos, Troezen, and many other cities, but the principal seat was on the island of Rhodes, in the Dodecanese, were four white horses were sacrificed annually to the god. A similar sacrifice was offered on the summit of Mount Hagios Elias, in the Taiyetos Mountains, in Laconia.

                In time virtually all the functions of Helios were transferred to the God Apollo, in his identity as Phoebus. Sun worship persisted in Europe even after the introduction of Christianity, as is evidenced by its disguised survival in such traditional Christian practices as the Easter bonfire and the Yule log on Christmas.

                Sunday is pagan to the core , you need to check into this pagan day and find out for yourselves , what Sunday truly represents , especially the Greek and Roman god's Helios , Apollo , Phoebus , and especially Ra.

                On with our study , God also gave us the Sabbath for a sign between God and us. he also said, That whoever does not keep the Sabbath will be cut of from his people. God says, whoever does work on the Sabbath will be surely put to death. Exodus. 31 : 12-17. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.

                You shall keep the Sabbath therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest , holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day , he shall surely be put to death.

                Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.

                The meaning for the word perpetual from the Collins English DIctionary Second Edition: ( usually pronominal ) eternal; permanent. Seemingly ceaseless because often repeated. Now wait a minute , You are going to say, that the Sabbath is only for the children of Israel. Same excuse they use for the Commandments & the Law's . It's a Jewish thing. Not so ! But first let's notice that the Sabbath is perpetual which is ceaseless, never ending . And forever. Moving on .

                God blesses any man who keeps His Sabbath. Isaiah. 56 : 2. Blessed is the man who does this, And the son of man who lays hold on it; Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, and keeps his hand from doing any evil. God also delights in anyone who Keeps His Sabbath. Isaiah . 58 : 13-14. If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honourable, And shall honour Him, not doing your own ways, ( Sunday ) , Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words, ( ministers , priests etc) . Not preaching God's Sacred Word.) Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken.

                Up to now I have shown you why the Sabbath is so important to keep . God requires it, God commands it. I will show you  now that all Christians should , and have to keep the Sabbath. Mark. 2 : 27-28. And he said to them, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath. Notice what it says, That Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour is  Lord of the Sabbath. ( I AM ) So why don't all CHristians keep the Sabbath ? Now you will say again that the Laws and the Commandments were done away with on the cross ( tree , stake ) , when Jesus died for us. Not so !

                Now for one of the greatest examples in the Bible, That proves that the laws and the commandments are not just for Jewish people . Saul was one of the worst persons who persecuted the New Testament Chruch. He would destroy those who called on the name in Jerusalem, which was Jesus. He would bring them bound to the high priest, on occasion some of these christians were killed . This same Saul is the one who later became Paul. He was converted on the road to Damascus, by none other then Jesus Christ Himself. Here are a few Scriptures to prove just that. But you should read all of Acts. The 9 chapter for yourself.

                Acts. 9 : 1 - 8. Then saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest, and asked letters from them to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way ( Jesus ) , whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

                And as he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me ? And he said, Who are You, Lord ? And the Lord said, I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads, So he, trembling and astonished, said, Lord, what do You want me to do ? And the Lord said to him, Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do. And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. But they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.

                So now Saul was blinded, he had to be led into Damascus by hand. But a man named Ananias would cure him of his blindness after three days. But Ananias was afraid of Saul, so he inquired of the Lord. So here was what Jesus said to Ananias. Acts. 9 : 14-15. And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name. ( the Way ) But the Lord said to him, Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.

                So Saul was not only to preach and teach to the children of Israel , but also to kings , and Gentiles.

                It seems odd that Ananias didn't want to go to see Saul ! No it wasn't odd at all, because Ananias knew exactly who Saul was and what he was capable of doing.

                So Ananias went and cured Saul of his blindness. And what did Saul do after he was cured of his blindness . Acts. 9 : 20-22. Immediately he preached the Christ (the Way) in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. Then all who heard were amazed, and said, Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem , and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests ? But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ.

                Now that we know how Saul was converted, we can now start using his name which later became Paul. Acts. 13 : 9. then Saul, who also is called Paul , filled with the Holy Spirit looked intently at him.

                Now another amazing fact which most people over look is when Paul was preaching to the Gentiles. Acts. 13 : 16 , 42-44 . Acts. 13 : 16 . Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, Men of Israel , and you who fear God, listen. Acts. 13: 42-44. And when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles, begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. And the Nest Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.

                Now isn't that just utterly amazing that the Gentiles begged Paul to continue preaching to them on the next Sabbath. Why didn't Paul speak to them the next day which was Sunday instead of waiting for a full week to go by. Remember this wasn't a Jewish town . These were all Gentiles who lived here. If the Laws and the Commandments and the Sabbath was done away with when Jesus died on the cross ( stake , tree ).Why was Paul now parching to these people on the Sabbath . Why didn't any of the Apostles tell him that all of that was done away with. When Jesus died on the stake. You will say then , because they were Jews. If so then why didn't any of the Gentiles tell him. And further more wasn't it Jesus who converted him, why didn't Jesus put it into his heart to preach on Sunday. Because Sunday is not the right day to praise your Lord and King, or the Father in heaven. It is the Sabbath day in which we serve God.

                Now Paul was travelling all over the country teaching and preaching on the Sabbath day. Acts.16 ; 11-13. Therefore, sailing from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day came to Neapolis, and from there to Philippi, which is the foremost city of that part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were staying it that city for some days. And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there.

                Notice that most of these places were Paul is teaching and preaching , especially Macedonia are mostly Greek town's.
 
        Then Paul came to Thessalonica and started preaching the gospel there. Acts. 17 :2. Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for Three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures. ( why not three Sundays ? ). Again Acts. 18 :4. And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks. Remember the Jews rejected Christ. So Paul was converting both Jews and Greeks.

                A couple of things to notice here is, That since Paul became converted that, he became custom to keeping the Sabbath. And that he preached to them out of the Scriptures, remember they didn't have the New Testament. So the New Testament Church was taught through the old prophets of the Old Testament. Remember Paul persecuted the Jews for the very same thing that he was doing now. And he was converting both Jews & Greeks.

                So here we go again, I will now prove that the Sabbath was long kept before Moses ever received the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. I will give you just one example , you can go back and check for yourself other incidents when the Sabbath was kept long before the Ten Commandments. you can read of this account in Exodus. 16. Two whole chapters before Exodus. 20. When the Ten Commandments were handed down to Moses.

                Exodus. 16 : 23-30. Then he said to them, This is what the Lord has said : Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning. So they laid it up till morning, as Moses commanded; and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it. Then Moses said, Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the Lord; today you will not find it in the field. Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, there will be none. Now it happened that some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, but they found none. And the Lord said to Moses, How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My Laws ?

                See what I have been saying. Moving on. For the Lord has given you the Sabbath; therefore He gives you on the sixth day bread for two days. Let every man remain in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. So the people rested on the seventh day.

                So as you can see there were Commandments and Laws long before Moses received them on Mount Sinai. With Moses receiving the Ten Commandments from God, who wrote them with his own finger, they were now enforced for all men to obey. Not just the Jewish people. Read all of Exodus. 16. Then go and read Exodus. 20. Now if this is still not enough proof, now I will go to the Millennial Prophesies which are for the end time, the latter days, the end of this age. When our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ comes to rule this earth for one thousand years.

                Now remember this is the end time prophesy . Isaiah. 56 : 1-6. Thus says the Lord: Keep justice, and do righteousness, For My salvation is about to come. And My righteousness to be revealed. Blessed is the man who does this, And the son of man who lays hold on it; Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, And keeps his hand from doing any evil. Do not let the son of the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord Speak, saying, The Lord has utterly separated me from His people; Nor let the eunuch say, Here I am, a dry tree. For thus says the Lord: to the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, And choose what pleases Me, and hold fast My covenant, Even to them I will give in My house And within My walls a place and a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name That shall not be cut off. Also the son of the foreigner who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him, And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, And holds fast My covenant.

            Again Isaiah. 66 : 23 . And it shall come to pass that from one New Moon to another  And from one Sabbath to another. All flesh shall come to worship before Me, says the Lord. Revelation . 12 : 17. And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation. 22 : 14. Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

                Now you can see how the Commandments and the Sabbath go together, because the Sabbath is in the Commandments. These are but a few Scriptures which prove that we should be keeping the Sabbath. I never even quoted a Scripture where Jesus Himself preached and taught on the Sabbath. When He quoted from the book of Isaiah on the Sabbath.

                Remember back then there was no New Testament Bible. All the prophets , apostles, and Jesus taught from the Old Testament. Jesus kept the Sabbath and all the Holy days , not just some of them , He kept them all . for 33 and one half years. Jesus never sinned, He is our Lord and Saviour . So why can't we believe what He taught us. Keep the Commandments, Sabbaths, Holy days. Why is that so hard for the people of this world to do ?

                Remember 1 Thessalonians. 5: 21. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Remember 1John. 2 : 3-4. Now by this we know that we Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, I know him, and does not keep His commandments , is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

                1 John. 5 : 3. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 Peter. 2 ; 21. For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example,  that you should follow His steps. For I say, Do as Jesus did.

                Very important scripture is 1 John. 2 : 24 . Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning ( the Laws , Commandments , Holy Days , Sabbath ). If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.

                So if Peter , John , Paul and the rest of the apostles are right , then we should walk as Christ walked, and do as Jesus Did. Then we know what we have to do if we are going to walk and do as Christ did. For you cannot say that one part of the Bible is right and the other is wrong . The Old Testament & The New Testament goes hand in hand . There are many accounts of these scriptures in your Bible .
