Bible Study Lesson  6                                            The Days Of Unleavened Bread                                       February . 19 / 1996

So now we come to the Days of Unleavened Bread. Once again we have to go back to the roots and the origins of these Holy Days, in order to get a good understanding of the meaning behind these days.

Leviticus. 23 : 1 - 8. ANd the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: The feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts. Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation . You shall do no work it: it is the Sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings .

These are the feasts of the Lord holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times. On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the Lord's Passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; seven days you must eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it. But you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord for seven days. The seventh day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it.

Exodus. 12 : 15 - 16. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your house. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel. On the first day there shall be a holy convocation for you. No manner of work shall be done on them; but that which everyone must eat that only may be prepared by you.

Deuteronomy . 16 : 3. You shall eat no leavened bread with it; seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it, that is , the bread of affliction ( for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste ) , that you may remember the day in which you cane out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life .

So you can see from the Old Scriptures why God commanded the Jewish people to keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. It was a reminder of them coming out of bondage from Egypt . They were kept . The first day as a High Sabbath and the last day as a High Sabbath. But they could do their work in between Sabbaths .

Now I will show you the reason why I keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Just as the New Testament Chruch did , just as Paul and the Apostles and Jesus kept these same feasts .

1 Corinthians . 5 : 4 - 8. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, deliver such a one Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus . Your glorying is not good. Do you know know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump ? Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ , our Passover, was sacrificed for us. There fore let us keep the feast, ( Feast of Unleavened Bread ) not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

As you can see Paul said , keep the feast. Yes , I keep the feast of Passover and of Unleavened Bread. We keep both High Sabbaths, and we take unleavened bread for seven days. We take a piece of Unleavened bread to remind us that Christ died on the cross ( stake , tree ) for us . I take part in the foot washing , just as Christ commanded us to do . To remind us that we are no better than anyone else . This is the lesson that Christ taught us , that we are to humble ourselves before one another . Just as Christ humbled Himself before the Apostles.

Yes , Christ kept the feast day and all of the Holy Days along with His Disciples. And even after Christ had died the Apostles and the New Testament Chruch kept on keeping the Laws and the Ten Commandments , all of the Holy Days , and the Sabbath . Are not all of the churches today suppose to be following the New Testament Chruch ? Are not all of the churches suppose to be following Christ ? Are not all of the churches suppose to be walking as Christ had walked ? Then why don't they practice what they preach .

  So why don't you !

You are responsible for what you read !

May the Father & Jesus Christ be with you always
  Amen.
