We now come to the Feast of Weeks ( which is also called Pentecost ) . Once again we have to go back to the roots and origin of this festival in order to get a proper understanding of the festival.

Leviticus . 23 : 15 - 21. And you shall count ofr yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed, Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord. You shall bring from your habitations two wave loaves of two-tenths of an ephah. They shall be of fine flour: they shall be baked with leaven.

They are the firstfruits to the Lord. And you shall offer with the bread seven lambs of the first year, without blemish, one young bull, and two rams. They shall be as a burnt offering to the Lord, with their grain offering and their drink offerings, an offering made by fire for a sweet aroma to the Lord.

Then you shall sacrifice one kid of the goats as a sin offering, and two male lambs of the first year as a sacrifice of peace offering. The priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits as a wave offering before the Lord, with the two lambs. They shall be holy to the Lord for the priest. And you shall proclaim on that same day that is a holy convocation to you. You shall do no customary work on it. It shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.

Exodus. 34 : 22. And you shall observe the Feast of Weeks, ( Pentecost ) of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the yesr's end.

Deuteronomy. 16 : 9 -10 , 16. You shall count seven weeks for yourself; begin to cout the seven weeks from the time you begin to put the sickle to the grain. Then you shall keep the Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God with the tribute of a freewill offering from your hand, which you shall give as the Lord your God blessed you. Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God in the place which He chooses: At the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, And at the Feast of Tabernacles; and they shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed.

We will now see how this relates to the New Testament Church. Pentecost comes from the Greek which means fiftieth. The feast of Weeks is referred to Pentecost or the Feast of Firstfruits .  ( Do you see how all of these Feast days tie into each other , they all go hand in hand ).

Here is something that is very important , you should think about this very hard . When Christ had risen from the grave he was with the Apostles for almost fourty days , Most people don't know this , while He was with them He was still teaching them things that they should know . He could have given the Apostles the Holy Spirit at that time , but He didn't . Why do you think that , that is .

Did Christ have the power to give the Apostles the Holy Spirit at that time before He was raised up ? Well of course He did . Why didn't He , why wait until later . I beleive that He want to wait for the day of Pentecost , this shows that this Holy Day is still enforced . Why didn't Christ give it to them on a Sunday . The day which almost the hold world keep's today .

Acts . 2 : 1. Now when the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. ( notice fully come ).

Matthew. 9 : 36 - 38. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then he said to His disciples the harvest truly is plentiful, but the labourers are few . Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labouresrs into HIs harvest.

John. 4 : 34 - 38. Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, There are still four months and then comes the harvest ? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest !

And he who reaps receives wages , and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: One sows and another reaps. I sent you to reap that for which you have not laboured; others have laboured, and you have entered into their labours.

Matthew. 13 : 24 - 30. Another parable He put forth to them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares ( weeds ) among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.  So the servants of the owner came and said to him, Sir did you not sow good seed in your field ? How then does it have tares ?

he said to them, An enemy had done this. The servant said to him, Do you want us then to go and gather them up ? But he said, No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into the barn.

Matthew. 13 : 36 - 43. Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field. He answered and said to them: He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, the good seeds are the son of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age.

The Feast of Pentecost takes on a special meaning for the New Testament Chruch. This is when they received the Holy Spirit , and the New Testament Church was formed . Acts. 2 : 1 - 47. Now when the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat uponeach of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred , the multitude came togher, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. Then they were all amazed and marvelled, saying to one another, Look , are not all these who speak Galileans ?

And how is that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born ? Parthians and Medes and Elamites, whose dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors form Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Creatans and Arabs we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God. So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, Whatever could this mean ? Others mocking said, they are full of new wine.

There are a few important things here to remember. That the Day of Pentecost had fully come. Why didn't the Holy Spirit come sooner or later ! Instead of coming when the Day of Pentecost had fully come. Couldn't the Holy Spirit had come a week, a day , a month before or after. Well of course the power of the Holy Spirit could have come at anytime . Christ made sure that the power of the Holy Spirit came on the Day of Pentecost . Not on Sunday or on any other day . It had to be on the Day of Pentecost .

Then the apostles began to speak in different tongues ( meaning different languages / not babbling ) . that every man there heard them in their own tongue. SO there were people there who said that they were drunk. Just think about it, seeing the fire setting up on the apostles, a wonderful miracle. And then they said that the apostles were drunk. Still unbelieving after seeing such a miracle, It doesn't matter to some people even when they see with their own eyes, they still are unbelievers. Just goes to show, no matter how hard you try to show somebody the truth right from the word of God. They still will not believe. Now carrying on .

                But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be know to you, and heed my words. For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. But this is what spoken by the prophet Joel: ANd it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pur out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days;

And they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath; Blood and fire and vapour of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the comeing of the great and notable day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know-Him, being delivered by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.

For David says concerning Him: I forsaw the Lord always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken; Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh will also rest in hope, Because You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption, You have made know to me the ways of life; Your will make me full of joy in Your presence.

Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried , and in his tomb , and is with us to this day. Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, he, forseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.

This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself; the Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand , Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.

Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, bot Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do ? Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call. And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation. Then those who gladly recived his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. ANd they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

So as you can see that the day of Pentecost or Feast of Weeks was a very important day to the New Testament Church. There were a number of things which happened on this day, They were all gathered together for the Holy Day, all twelve of the apostles. God rained fire on them which was the Holy Spirit. There were people there from all the nations of the earth. When they were all speaking everyone understood what each other was saying no matter which language they spoke.

Peter said , that they had to repent and be baptized before they could receive the Holy Spirit . Then about three thousand souls were added . Do you think that all of these were only Jewish people ? Well of course not . Then they continued seadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship ( the Sacred Word of God , His teaching's His Laws and His Sabbaths . And all of His Holy Days . which almost every church today say that they are done away with ). And the Lord added daily to the church .

Then Peter said that David was both dead and buried and was not ascended into heaven. For there is no one in heaven, but Jesus Christ. No man has ascended into heaven or ever will until Christ comes back. But that is another Bible Lesson .

Another amazing thing that you should remember that had happened on that day was that there was about three thousand people converted that day. We don't know how many people were there that day , but there was about three thousand souls that were saved. For this is another thing which people over look, not all were saved . Because there was still people there that seen all of these miracles , heard Peter speaking, and seen all twelve apostles. And yet they still didn't believe. For Peter said, about three thousand people, not all of the people .

Acts. 20 : 16. For Paul had decided to said past Ephesus, so that he would not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the Day of Pentecost.

1 Corinthians. 16 : 8. but I will tarry in Ephesus until Pentecost.

As you can see that Pentecost is a very important day . The apostles were given the Holy Spirit on that day . The New Testament Church was formed on that day . And many other miracles were done on that day .

So why do so many people say , that the Laws , Commandments , Sabbaths , and Holy Days are done away with . Why ? Because they are igronant of what God's Sacred Word says . They don't want to beleive the truth of their own Bible . So let's get back to basics , let's start reading the Bible for what it says , not what man says , and what man would have you beleive . For it is your salvation that is at stake . What will you say , when Christ comes back and He says to you , Why didn't you keep My Laws ? Why didn't you keep My Sabbath ? Why didn't you keep My Commandments ? Why didn't you keep My Holy and Sacred Days ? I gave you My word , I gave you My truth , I gave you My Bible .

Are you going to say to Him , that His Laws and Commandments , Sabbath and Holy Days were done away with at the cross . Or will you say , that is what my church taught me . Or that is what I was taught by man . What do you think He will say ?

  Remember 2 Timothy. 3 : 16 . 1 Thessalonains . 5 : 21.

Are you ready to say , Christ I will follow You !

You are responsible for what you read !

May the Father & Jesus Christ be with you always

Amen
